As a manufacturer of onshore wind turbines, the Nordex Group plays a key role in creating a sustainable energy landscape, and interest in renewable energies in Poland is growing. The Nordex Group has been present in the country since 2007, and currently employs 144 people, spread across the local head office in Warsaw and nine service points. The onshore wind energy capacity installed to date exceeds 1,1 GW.
Our Products for Poland
The latest developments are showing that interest in PPAs, i.e. long-term power purchase agreements, has increased within the country. The PPA business model, which involves purchasing electricity directly from the renewable energy producer, and entering into a contract on the long-term supply of electricity for a price agreed in advance, is becoming an attractive counter-model outside of the national support programme. Customers of the Nordex Group have also placed orders for the delivery of turbines from the Delta4000 series for PPA-based projects in Poland.
The Delta4000 Series
Customers of the Nordex Group have placed orders for the delivery of Delta4000 turbines for PPA-based projects in Poland.
With the market moving towards larger generators and taller towers, the Delta4000 series is currently the most competitive product platform the Group has to offer. This includes also the N163/6.X and the N175/6.X, which are built on the proven performance and architecture of the previous turbine types and offer the best fit for polish market conditions.
The N163/6.X marks the company’s entry into the 6.X MW+ class. The Nordex Group developed the N163/6.X based on the N149/4.0-4.5 launched in 2017. This was the first turbine worldwide that introduced flexible rating as part of its core design philosophy and operation strategy. As all turbines of the Delta4000 series, the N163/6.X covers a wide range of power modes, providing the flexibility to optimize a customer’s project-specific AEP investment criteria as well as rating and sound requirements. The N163/6.X comes with a design lifetime of 25 years, which can be extended to up to 35 years. The turbine’s high flexibility offers opportunities to optimize the revenues in line with PPA structures and merchant price profiles.
In September 2022 the Nordex Group once again expanded its globally successful Delta4000 platform with a highly-efficient wind turbine: the N175/6.X – Nordex’ specialist for light-wind speeds. At typical low to medium-wind locations, the N175/6.X will achieve between 7 and 14 percent more yield compared to its sister models, the N163/5.X and N163/6.X due to its single-piece, newly-designed 85.7-meter-long rotor blade and its above-average capacity factor. This additional yield is achieved particularly during times of lighter wind speeds with the turbine producing up to 22 percent more energy than its predecessors.
