Our Sustainability Strategy sets the foundation for responsible action across our entire organization. Developed in close collaboration with colleagues from a wide range of departments, it reflects our shared ambition to deepen sustainability within our core business and to meet the growing expectations of our stakeholders.

SEVEN STRATEGIC FOCUS TOPICS

Our new Sustainability Strategy is built around seven distinct focus topics, each aligned with one of the three pillars: Environmental (E), Social (S), or Governance (G). This structure provides clarity and direction – for our teams as well as for our stakeholders. At the heart of the strategy are ambitious yet achievable goals, guided by the OKR logic:

  • Objective: Each focus area is anchored in a longterm strategic ambition.
  • Key Target: Based on these ambitions, we have defined concrete, measurable targets.
  • Initiatives: To achieve these targets, we implement dedicated initiatives led by the responsible expert teams.

ENVIRONMENT 

CIRCULARITY

Our objective:
We deliver wind energy solutions through smart circular design, creating lasting value beyond one lifecycle.

Our key targets:
We want to establish a company-wide circularity framework with published policies and guidance by 2027.

We want to advance the product portfolio with value-creating ecodesign upgrades by 2030.

We want to strengthen our Service as a driver of circular value by 2027.

CLIMATE & DECARBONIZATION 

Our objective: 
We advance decarbonization and climate resilience across our operations and along our value chain. 
 
Our key targets: 
We want to conceptualize climate action via a comprehensive climate transition plan by 2028. 

We want to reduce scope 1 & 2 emissions by 32 % by the end of 2028 against a 2022 baseline.

We want to reduce scope 3 emissions by 19 % by the end of 2028 against a 2022 baseline​

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP 

Our objective:
We embed environmental stewardship into our decisions to protect ecosystems and enable sustainable operations. 
 
Our key targets:  
We want to reduce production waste sent for disposal relative to production area-specific output in MW by 5 % by 2028, against a 2025 base year.

We want to reduce freshwater withdrawal intensity in production sites by 10 % per MW produced by year 2028 compared to 2025 baseline, by implementing water-saving technologies.

We want to design and implement nature-positive features at 100 % of our manufacturing sites by the end of 2028.

SOCIAL

HEALTH & SAFETY

Our objective: 
We put health and safety first, fostering a culture of shared responsibility and awareness, supported by industry-leading processes. 
 
Our key targets: 
We want to reduce our Total Case Incident Rate (TCIR) to 8.2 by December 2027.
 
We want that >90 % of Nordex’ managers receive Safety Leadership Training by 2027.
 
We want to implement mental health initiatives in at least four Nordex locations by 2027.

OUR PEOPLE

Our Objective: 
We empower the people who drive our success to grow and thrive in inclusive, respectful workplaces worldwide. 
 
Our key targets: 
We want to ensure that colleagues in all countries where Nordex has offices have access to learning opportunities through the corporate learning ecosystem by Q1/2028.

We want to increase the number of Females in Management to 25 % by end of 2030. 
  
We want to maintain a turnover rate at least 5 % lower than market average each year. 

We want to reduce new joiner voluntary turnover rate by 5 % during the first 12 months, by end of 2028.

GOVERNANCE

SUPPLY CHAIN DUE DILIGENCE

Our objective:
We uphold responsible sourcing and risk based due diligence to support an environmentally and socially responsible supply chain.

Our key target:
We want to establish an HRE auditing system and include audit results in purchasing decisions by 2027.

Our objective:
We ensure digital resilience by proactively managing cyber risks and safeguarding information security. 
 
Our key target: 
We want to ensure that 100% of Critical Security Incidents detected across all Nordex corporate and product systems globally are reported to Senior Management within 24 hours.
