Founded in 1985, the Nordex Group has been a pioneer in the wind energy for decades. Since entering the U.S. market in 2000, Nordex has expanded across North America, focusing on its two key markets: the United States and Canada. In the United States, nearly 270 gigawatts of clean energy have already been installed, supplying 15.5% of the country’s electricity. Today, wind power is the leading source of renewable electricity, contributing 10.1% of total electricity (source: American Clean Power Association).
In Canada, wind energy has emerged as the most cost-effective source of new electricity generation over the past decade, adding more capacity than any other energy type. The country has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40–45% by 2030 compared with 2005 levels and aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 (source: Canadian Wind Energy Association).
Nordex’s regional headquarters is located in Chicago, Illinois, with a second office, production facility, and training center in West Branch, Iowa. In Canada, Nordex has recently expanded its presence by establishing a dedicated team and office in Montreal. A network of highly skilled technicians and service specialists operates from multiple service points across the region, ensuring the reliable maintenance of wind turbines.
Nordex Product Portfolio For Region North America
Our proven N163/5.X and N175/6.X turbines are available in multiple configurations, making them ideal for land-limited and certain grid-constrained locations in the U.S. and Canada. In Canada, the Nordex Group offers the N163/5.X turbine with cold-climate variants and the advanced Nordex Anti-Icing System. These features ensure reliable and efficient operation in low-temperature environments, meeting the unique challenges of Canadian wind energy projects. In the United States, Nordex has expanded its 5 MW product portfolio with the new N169/5.X turbine, built on the trusted Delta4000 platform. Developed for the U.S. market requirements, it leverages proven components to boost energy yield – especially on projects with limited grid capacity – through an optimized capacity factor. A range of U.S.-optimized towers will ensure maximum efficiency. Both the N169/5.X and the N163/5.X turbines will be manufactured locally at our West Branch, Iowa facility, benefiting from Nordex’ regional supply chain. Production of the N169/5.X is scheduled to begin in 2026.
The N169/5.X
Nordex’ specialist for the U.S. market
The N169/5.X from the Delta4000 series delivers up to 5.5 MW with a 169-meter rotor, excelling in low to medium winds and low turbulence while meeting the needs of grid-constrained sites.
North American Training Centre

At the Nordex North American Training Centre, we don‘t just train our own teams – we upskill customers, operators, subcontractors and global PM/ECP partners.
From turbine fundamentals to advanced maintenance on AW and Nordex platforms. From GWO certifications to specialized service training – our dedicated trainers deliver it all. Inside our 27,000 sq ft facility, learning is hands-on: a fully refurbished Delta4000 from the “Aurora” wind farm, a Delta4000 simulator, and a 45-foot climb tower put theory into practice. Add three state-of-the-art classrooms and a webinar studio, and we‘re ready to train wind energy professionals – in-person and online.
