EXEMPLARY COOPERATION IN THE WIND ENERGY VOCATIONAL EDUCATION

Wind Turbine Technology Training for Vocational High School Students was held at Nordex Turkey Izmir Service and Technical Training Center.

Wind Turbine Technology training was held in Nordex Turkey Izmir Service and Technical Training Center by Nordex Turkey within the framework of cooperation of Izmir Development Agency and the Izmir Provincial Directorate of National Education on 28 June and 2 July 2021, in order to introduce the wind energy sector more closely and to provide more detailed information about wind turbines to the students, studying in the Technical Vocational High Schools, located in Izmir.

Wind energy sector, growing and developing day by day, needs qualified and experienced human resources. In the first phase of this program, initiated especially to train qualified blue collar personnel, totally 25 project subjects, consisted of 5 different main branches: Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems, Feasibility and Blade & Composite Materials, were given to 100 students, studying in the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades of 8 Vocational High Schools in Izmir. In the online platform, where the students participated, the students made presentations for 1 week long to the committee, consisted of the Nordex Turkey technical staff. Participation certificates and the “Wind Power Plant from A to Z” book, supported by Nordex Turkey, were given as gifts to the students.

After they have presented their projects, 21 students, who have received the highest scores and selected according to evaluations of Nordex Turkey committee were entitled to receive the training provided at the training center covering theoretical and practical trainings, for 5 days.

Within the scope of this program, general information about the wind energy sector, turbine types, mechanical and electrical system components, SCADA system and Delta 4000 turbine model were explained in detail to the students by the Nordex Turkey trainers.

The students had the opportunity to evaluate the wind power plants from an operational point of view by examining the ABK Res DELTA and Demircili Res GAMMA turbines on site during the field visit, held on the last day of the training.
