Nordex boosts efficiency and sustainability: New outdoor storage area inaugurated in Rostock
With the opening of a new 18,000 m² outdoor storage area at our nacelle plant, the Nordex Group advanced its operations in Rostock, Germany. This €5.5 million investment strengthens the company’s footprint while enabling a smarter, more sustainable flow – moving key components directly from production to on-site storage, reducing transport distances and CO₂ emissions.
This investment further reinforces Rostock’s unique role in Nordex production network: in Rostock, the group manufactures nacelles, hubs, drive trains, and switch cabinets – and as the only site worldwide producing all turbine models (2.4–7 MW), the team delivers around 12 nacelles per week, equal to roughly 66 MW of output.
As Alexander Farnkopf, Director Nacelle Germany, emphasized in his opening remarks, the new space strengthens the site’s position within Nordex Group’s global production network – making it even more efficient and future-ready.
The team was delighted to welcome State Secretary Jochen Schulte and Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger, who both underlined the significance of this investment for Rostock as an industrial hub and for climate-friendly growth in the region.
