Norway: Nordex Group welcomes the first employees on the new site
In March 2020, Nordex Group announced a large 400 MW order for the Øyfjellet windpark in Norway. In preparation for the new site, we welcome newcomers to the organization. The windpark is a significant project for Nordex not only because of its vast size of 72 turbines, but also because of the long service contract that was signed with the customer.
The first two Service Technicians for the site have now started their employment. They will first have the chance to go through multiple trainings and visits to other Nordex sites before the turbines are erected on mountain Øyfjellet. In early 2021, they will welcome more teammates as recruitment is still ongoing for more technicians.
The two new employees Bjørnar and Åge are happy to join the company. “I am really excited to work on this project knowing that we are part of producing energy that will benefit the local community” says Bjørnar, a local electrician who got the opportunity to join Nordex after the struggles he had faced on the difficult job market impacted by COVID-19. For the first 15 years, the energy generated by the Øyfjellet wind park has been sold to a local factory that uses it for their own production as well as supplies it to the commune’s electricity needs. The opportunity to join a new industry and be part of maintaining new infrastructure locally were the main reasons for both when they applied to work at Nordex.
