The Nordex Group – supporting local communities
Building its Logoa do Barro wind farm near the City of Lagoa do Barro do Piaui, Brazil, our team was informed that a planned modernisation of a toy library for children can’t be realised because of a lack of funds. Without further ado, our team helped out and in close cooperation with the local government the construction works for the building were started. Furthermore, Nordex Energy Brazil donated 20 notebooks for a new technology room.
This project serves 150 children between three and five years old from the Maria Joana de Jesus School next door. With a playful and pedagogical approach the toy library supports the early learning process of children and aims at developing the child’s personality by using games and toys. The kids learn also how to interact with each other respectfully and how to share things.
The inauguration of the new toy library was a cheerful event where Directors of Nordex Brazil celebrated together with the Governor of the Piauí state, the Mayor of Lagoa do Barro do Piauí and of course the children and their families.
Acting globally in many diverse communities the Nordex Group engages in having a positive social impact in the communities we touch. This is one of the five pillars of our sustainability strategy which also covers the topics product responsibility, employee responsibility, environmental management & resource efficiency as well as responsibility for society.Since 2015 our Sustainability Management unit has been responsible for the strategic development of our activities in these areas.
