The Nordex Group has been awarded a contractfor the construction of the 'Manfredonia' wind farm. The investor is thespecial purpose vehicle 'Eolsiponto Srl', owned by Capital Riesgo GlobalSA, a company of Banco Santander, and Alerion Clean Power. The contractmarks the first time that power producer Alerion has opted for Nordexturbines. With an installed capacity of over 250 megawatts (MW), thiscompany is one of the largest independent power producers and projectdevelopers in Italy.Work on installing the seven N100/2500 turbines is to commence in spring2014. The 'Manfredonia' wind farm is located in Apulia close to the town ofthe same name on the Adriatic coast. The wind farm will have an installedcapacity of 17.5 MW, sufficient to generate almost 40 GWh of clean energy ayear, preventing the emission of some 40,000 tons of CO2.'The contract is an encouraging sign for our subsidiary in Rome, showingthat also under the new auction system in Italy Nordex is successful.
