The project

The ELEKWIND project is an initiative aimed at developing highly efficient alkaline electrodes that can be used in combination with Renewable Energy Sources (RES). The project will involve the development of a new generation of electrodes that will enable future alkaline electrolysis to be developed. Additionally, the project will evaluate different coating techniques for the production of the electrodes. To ensure the success of the project, the developed materials will be thoroughly evaluated through electrochemical characterisation at cell scale. This will allow the project team to select the best electrode alternatives and scale them up to a 2 kW power stack. Nordex has received a grant of €495,000 from the first call for the “Incentive Program 1: Capabilities, Technological Advances, and Implementation of Testing and/or Manufacturing Lines”, included in the incentive programs for the innovative and knowledge value chain of renewable hydrogen under the PRTR framework, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU. The ELEKWIND project is set to run from 2023 to 2026. The ELEKWIND file number is PR-H2CVAL1-C1-2022-0011.
