The project
DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE OF ELECTROLYZER WITH ALKALINE ENHANCED FLEXIBILITY TO MATCH DIRECT CONNECTION TO WIND FARMS/PV PLANTS TO AIM FOR MOST COMPETITIVE LCOH LEVELIZED COST OF HYDROGEN
Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) on hydrogen technology (IPCEI Hy2Tech) within Component 9 of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU. The objective of the IPCEI project is to develop a pressurized alkaline electrolyzer on the MW scale that can be adapted to variable operation with direct electrical supply from wind turbines and photovoltaics (PV). In particular, Nordex Electrolyzers S.L. will design the electrolyzer to minimize LCOH in variable input operation. This will lead to a different Balance of Plant (BoP) and stack design resulting from the direct connection of the wind farm and the PV system to the electrolyser system. The project is funded by the European Commission. Nordex Electrolyzers S.L. has received €12,000,000 in funding. The project will run from 2022 to 2026. The IPCEI file number is PR-IPCEI-2023-000003.
