The Nordic Project Management team has successfully completed the Finnish project Oltava after achieving the customer handover in late April. Oltava wind farm is located in Pyh\u00e4joki, approximately 100 kilometers southwest from the city of Oulu, and has been developed by Taaleri Energia. The funds managed by the developer Taaleri Energia contracted Nordex Group to install 19 N149 turbines, supplied in a project-specific mode of 4.8 MW and with a total capacity of 91.2 MW. All turbines are now connected to the grid and producing electricity after completing the testing phase. Oltava wind farm will produce enough electricity to supply around 35 000 households and will offset the equivalent of 88 000 tons of carbon dioxide during each year of operation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main installation phase of the wind farm started in August 2020, requiring over 77 000 man-hours until the full operations of the wind farm were reached. A large international team of experienced Nordex employees and subcontractors worked on the site for nearly 300 days without any lost time incidents, a great achievement led with the expertise under the Nordex Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The last phase of the preparation and the entire execution phase of the project were carried out under the Covid-19 considerations. The challenges of the global pandemic required the Oltava team to maintain a flexible and proactive approach in order to minimize impacts on the project. However, the project was completed without any stoppages of activities due to the Corona virus. The Nordic winter, one of the harshest in the last years, also challenged the work group with heavy snow falls and low temperatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project team wants to thank all the stakeholders for their continuous support and collaboration throughout the journey. For the next 25 years, the local Nordex Service team will be responsible for maintaining the installed turbines under a Premium Maintenance and Service contract and ensuring high availability of the Delta4000 turbines in the wind farm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
